Safety coverage for DJI Matrice 400 operations

The DJI AP100 Parachute adds a dedicated layer of protection to the Matrice 400 platform for missions where the aircraft, payload, ground area, or operating permissions carry high value. It is designed as a Matrice 400 accessory, not as a universal drone parachute or a standalone flight system.

For companies in Saudi Arabia and nearby Gulf markets, AP100 can support a more structured enterprise safety case for work around controlled sites, infrastructure corridors, energy assets, construction projects, and public-safety operations. Core safety features

Continuous self-diagnostics

The system checks the gas generator and communication links from power-on through flight. Anomalies can be surfaced through the Matrice 400 health management workflow in DJI Pilot 2.

Dual redundant safety system

An independent flight control system, IMU, sensors, and cross-validation logic help reduce the risk of accidental deployment and preserve monitoring if the aircraft link changes.

Independent power

Built-in dual capacitors provide up to one hour of independent backup power under DJI test conditions, supporting attitude monitoring and automatic deployment.

Independent motor cut-off

The flight termination system cuts motor power within 600 ms when triggered, stopping the rotors before parachute ejection to help reduce entanglement risk.

Automatic or manual parachute deployment

Automatic deployment

AP100 can deploy when it detects abnormal aircraft attitude or speed. In supported regions, the Matrice 400 can also trigger deployment when it breaches a DJI Pilot 2 geocaging boundary. Region support and software requirements must be confirmed before operation.

Manual deployment

Operators can trigger deployment using the on-screen slider in DJI Pilot 2. In supported countries and regions, remote deployment is also available through the DJI FlightHub 2 Flight Termination System interface when the required aircraft serial number, verification, cellular connectivity, and service support are available.

Post-deployment visibility

After deployment, loud audio alarms and high-intensity flashing lights operate for approximately one hour under DJI test conditions. This helps people on the ground clear the area and helps the operating team locate the aircraft for recovery.
 


 

Designed for field deployment

  • Rear-mounted form factor: The design avoids interference with battery changes and payloads, while the Matrice 400 can fit into its carrying case with AP100 attached.
  • Limited mission impact: DJI reports approximately six minutes of flight-time impact in its test configuration with the Matrice 400 and H30T.
  • Hot, dusty, and wet sites: The system shares the Matrice 400 IP55 rating and is specified for temperatures from -20°C to 50°C, subject to DJI operating instructions.
  • Payload and tether awareness: When AP100 is installed, the Matrice 400 gimbal safety tether must be secured to the Gimbal Connector. Downward and backward mmWave radar behavior is also affected, so operators must reassess obstacle risk.
